WHY EXERCISES OF PRACTICAL LIFE ?
THE DIRECT AIMS
Each activity will have a direct aim or specific objectives, as well as general aims.
THE INDIRECT AIMS
OBJECTIVES :
1. To meet the child’s needs and to encourage and facilitate development
2. To facilitate the child’s adaptation to the world
AIMS :
• To develop independence
Learn the skills which enable him to become an independent being
• To develop concentration
The longer the child is absorbed by an activity, the better for the development of concentration
• To develop motor skills and co-ordination
Child learns to control his movements
• To develop social aspects – self-esteem, social awareness, social skills
Feels good at completion of things; awareness of his value to the group.
Actions carried out are not only for his benefit but for the group as a whole.
Learns the acceptable behaviour of his own other cultures.
• To develop intelligence
Learns how to adapt to the environment and how to be creative in it
• To develop self-discipline and control and order
Self-discipline – encouraged by introducing the ‘Work Cycle’
Control – learns the limits and possibilities of his immediate surroundings.
Encouraged to make conscious decisions based on this knowledge
Order – Learns to keep the environment clean. Encourages logical thinking.
When all these aims are satisfied NORMALISATION is achieved.
